If you haven’t noticed that blazers have become one of the most popular trends, then you have certainly been living under a rock. Blazers have been around for many, many years and used to be considered an item you’d only wear to work or for a more formal occasion – basically, they were boring AF…
However, thanks to the evolution of fashion and the many fashionistas of the world, blazers have now become a must-have piece for your “cool girl” wardrobe and have blazed into a whole new dimension! Blazers come in all different shapes, patterns, and colours, so it’s important to find the right one for you, your style and your body shape.
A staple for everyone’s wardrobe is the classic black blazer. An item like this is so easy to dress up or down and add your own personal flare to. My top tip when hunting for a blazer is to try your luck in your local op shop first before buying a brand new one. I have found so many great blazers in vintage stores and these are usually my favourite ones. Otherwise places like The Iconic, David Jones, Asos, etc… have a huge array of blazers you can search through to find the right one, fit for you!
Once you’ve found the one you love, it’s time to work it into your everyday style. I have chosen three ways to show you how I like to wear my classic black blazer. I guarantee these looks will make you see this wardrobe staple in an entirely new light and transform your closet from drab to fab!
1. The “Cool Girl”
If you want to take your blazer from boring to cool girl chic try pairing it with your favourite oversized t-shirt and mum jeans. I paired it with a tie-dye shirt, which I tied at the back to show some skin, vintage Levis, Alias Mae heels and I finished it off with this cute Poppy Lissiman bag.
This kind of look can be tailored to your personal style. I love to wear a bit of colour which is why I chose the tie-dye shirt and pink bag, but you could totally pair it with a basic t-shirt if colour ain’t your thing. Easily dress this look down with your favourite pair of sneakers or sandals.
2. Make it All Black
One of the easiest most flattering ways to wear a black blazer is to pair it with an all-black outfit. For this look, I have paired it with a leather AJE skirt and a basic black turtle neck. I added my own personal style to it by edging it up with Alias Mae white boots, and coloured glasses, but again you could accessorize this look however you like to give it your own personal touch.
3. Power Suit it Up
One trend that is still hanging around that I absolutely adore is the power suit. If you want to feel like a boss, this look is for you! Pair your black blazer with your favourite black pants to create the power suit illusion.
I dressed this outfit down by pairing it with Nike sneakers and cat-eye black glasses, but you could easily wear heels to take this look from day to night.
