At some point in your life, you would have been sucked in by the many “bargains” you see when shopping – I know I have. Let’s be real with ourselves for a second. How many times have we actually worn that cheap dress that was on sale?
At the time you think it’s the most fashion forward thing and for a cheap price – even better! Chances are this dress only got worn a couple of times before it went straight to the bin… right?
Lately, the importance of buying quality clothes over quantity has been super important to me. I have come to realise it’s one of the most fashion forward decisions I have ever made. Spending that extra bit of cash on something worth it, is in the long run, probably going to save you a lot of money. But money aside, there are other reasons why purchasing that $300 dress over the $30 dress is important.
It’s 2018 and everyone wants to live a more sustainable lifestyle. To me, purchasing clothing that is of a higher quality is one of the easiest ways to live a little more sustainably. Buying less and ensuring the items you do buy last a long time, will, in turn, mean less waste.
Along with that, fast fashion clothing is often a lot more harmful to the environment as the pieces are often produced using bad farming practices and nasty chemicals.
Love and Empowerment
At the end of the day, everything you buy you want to LOVE, right? It’s highly likely you will probably love the dress you saved for and finally purchased more, over the dress you bought just because it was cheap.
Buying more expensive clothing is a lot more effort than buying cheaply. Your purchase requires more care and no doubt, better care you’ll give it, as it did cost you more.
For me, buying something special and wearing something special always gives me a bit more confidence. Purchasing something you have eyed off for a long time and saved for is empowering. As well as looking super fashion-forward you will love how you feel.
If you’re buying clothing that will last longer, obviously you won’t have to shop as much, which is perfect for those of you who hate the thought of shopping. Quality clothing will no doubt, last a lot longer than cheaply made clothing which means you will have them for, I would hope, a very long time.
If you’re like me and you enjoy a bit of shopping here and there breaking the habit of purchasing “just cause” can save you a lot of money in the future. Another way of getting your money’s worth these days, designer clothing can be hired out or re-sold pretty easily.
My latest addition to my QUALITY wardrobe is this statement dress by Realistaíon Par. I had been eying this baby, ‘The Venus,’ off for weeks and weeks and it’s now finally mine. The original ‘Newspaper’ print was designed by the brands very own Art Director in Los Angeles and is not only made with love but 100% silk quality material. Knowing the hard work and effort that was put in to create this beautiful piece brings me joy when I wear this dress.
If you want to own ‘The Venus,’ and feel like a goddess when you wear it, shop it here.
